After 4.75 years of marriage, we finally tackled our first DIY project together!   We learned a lot and made more trips to the Home Depot than we've made our entire lives.

I have to give Ryan most of the credit for this project.   He came up with the idea, watched loads of how-to videos, and then did all of the work.  

Here he is ready to begin!

Trying again.... this time with a hammer drill.  

{Yeah, a regular drill with a masonry bit doesn't work on brick.  NOT at all!  Ryan drilled on just ONE hole for 30 minutes and then the  carbide tip broke off the bit.  Oh well.  Live and learn}

Ta Da!  The finished product!!  Looks awesome huh?  Betcha ya can't even find the cords... 

  We, of course, still have some decorating to do.  The plan is to put some family pictures above the mantel with the family sign.   And maybe get some awesome modern vases...  

Either way, its still pretty awesome.
