Getting a dining room was one of the things I was most excited about when we moved in last year Eating on the couch with a toddler wasn't a very ideal arrangement :) Since we didn't own any dining furniture, right before we moved in, Ryan found this table for a steal on craigslist (it has a leaf to expand for company) and we love it. We also got some cheap chairs on craigslist. Cheap but not so much a steal. None of them matched, they weren't my style, and they were pretty scratched up. But for only $5, they were a great money saver for the time. But they having been falling apart and it was only a matter of time before they gave out while someone was sitting on them. So out with the old and in with the new!
Also if you care to know, the hutch was another craiglist find from 4 years ago and the mirror we've also had forever. The rug, curtains, and flowers were all awesome clearance finds I've gathered over the last year. And the candles on the hutch I grabbed at walmart today because I wanted the room to finally be done :)
Ava, our big helper, thought the table could use some work too:

We are loving the new chairs and the newly completed room!
Well, even if it is taking you quite some time to completely renovate, what's important is that there's progress. I hope you posted some before pics though to have something to compare with; but I am confident that your finished product looks way better now. Good luck on your projects!
